Products, tools, and devices we love and recommend for healthy skin and home use
There are so many amazing skincare lines available today, making it overwhelming to know which brands to trust. Here at b theory aesthetics, we are self-proclaimed ingredient nerds! Our experience in the spa and wellness industry has given us the opportunity to work with some amazing skincare brands and products. When it came to selecting the product lines we carry in- house for our treatment rooms and in our retail store, we researched, sampled and selected lines that we knew would get our clientele the results they are seeking, in addition to being safe for humans and the environment.
Working with Green Envee has been a dream for us as practitioners. After a year of working with this line in the treatment room and seeing the results our clients are getting with regular use at home, we could not be more pleased. We noted in a recent conversation that our clients haven’t experienced any sensitivities or adverse reactions from these clean, green products. In addition to Green Envee, we carry products from VXN, a women-owned organic CBD skincare line formulated right here in Colorado. For our clients with highly sensitive or sensitized skin, we often recommend using skincare products from Qét Botanicals, a lovely woman-owned company out of Madison, WI.
In a perfect world, we would hand pick and choose our favorite products from a few other skincare lines. We do have a great affection and appreciation for numerous products from the Eminence skincare line, and these are two of our favorites:
Eminence Strawberry Rhubarb Hyaluronic Body Lotion (this is great for back acne and keratosis pilaris as it contains salicylic acid): https://eminenceorganics.com/us/product/strawberry-rhubarb-hyaluronic-body-lotion
Eminence Bamboo Firming Fluid (our current favorite natural retinol product): https://eminenceorganics.com/us/product/bamboo-firming-fluid
Pro tip - Purchase skin care products from a respected and trusted aesthetician. We do the research for you to ensure that you are using the highest quality ingredients that will help you achieve your skincare goals. By spending a bit more on better formulated products, you save so much money in the long run, because you use less product while achieving better results, you don’t need as many products in your routine, and you don’t risk causing damage to your skin using ingredients that don’t benefit or that can potentially harm your skin’s health. Shopping for skincare products at the drugstore, grocery store, big box store or natural foods store can be fun (who doesn’t love all that amazing packaging and promises of results?!) However, learning to read labels to ensure you’re using a safe product that will benefit your skin requires a degree in chemistry! This is where your esthetician is your esty besty - we know what those ingredients are and how they may or may not work for your skin type. As a rule of thumb, we say skip the products that have way too many unpronounceable products listed on the label, and stick to products that contain fewer ingredients (especially organic ingredients) that you actually recognize.
Having said all of that, there are a few brands and items sold at our local natural foods stores that I (Leigh) do adore. Check my tote bag and you will likely find this cult classic in the side pocket - Heritage Store Rosewater. I am a rose junkie and this product checks the boxes for me for rehydrating my skin during the day, adding hydration and moisture to my skin between layers of other skincare products, and it gives me the perfect refreshing boost when my energy bottoms out in the afternoon - way better than caffeine! Love it!

One of our favorite modalities for working with the skin is Gua Sha facial massage. In recent years practitioners around the world have developed techniques and training for estheticians for working with Gua Sha on the face and neck. The movements we use on the face and neck use far less pressure than that of scraping and releasing trapped Qi on the body. We use specialized techniques and tools that help us to boost the overall health of the skin all while providing our clients with a deeply relaxing and healing experience. We proudly carry Gua Sha tools from our trainer and mentor, Cecily J. Braden of Cecily Braden Spa and Wellness. These tools are expertly designed and handcrafted to ensure the best connection with the skin for optimal results. We offer Gua Sha tools and packages that include one-on-one instruction on how to use your tool to achieve your skin care goals.

In addition to beautiful Gua Sha tools, Cecily J. Braden has also designed a one-of-a-kind lymphatic facial brush and lymphatic body brush. These brushes are the perfect simple tools to support not only your skin’s health, but your whole body health. We have both brushes in stock and will help you learn to get your lymphatic system activated with a gentle soothing routine that fits your holistic lifestyle.

Another favorite product in the make-up category is Thrive’s Liquid Lash Extensions. Brooke will likely not be seen in public without this natural-looking lash enhancing mascara that “tubes” the lash. No mascara smudges or melt-downs. She’s a huge fan and it’s a dream to remove with a little oil facial cleanser (insert: Green Envee’s Purify Oil Cleanser - - yum!). Thrive Causemetics is a beauty business with a social mission. Their products are formulated with the health and wellbeing of people and the planet. Give this mascara a try!

As a high touch, low tech holistic skincare practice, we do not use many skincare devices in our treatment rooms and there are very few that we recommend for home use. However, two of our favorites that we feel confident recommending to our clients to use at home are the NuDerma High Frequency Device and the NuFace facial toning device. High frequency therapy has been around for a long time because it actually benefits the skin in numerous ways. It’s our go to device for treating acne in the treatment room and at home, and it also helps support the skin’s youthful appearance by increasing oxygen to the skin, improving overall tone, texture and glow. It promotes collagen stimulation and elastin production to keep the skin tighter, firmer and more toned.

Microcurrent technology has been used medically since the 1980’s as a muscle stimulator to treat conditions such as Bell’s Palsy and muscle paralysis. It is used in the world of aesthetics to help retrain the muscles in the face and neck, improving the toning, tightening and lifting of the skin. It stimulates the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) which leads to the structural creation of proteins like collagen and elastin. Regular at home use improves contouring, firmness and bounce in the skin.
