Fall Skincare Guide - 10 Essential Tips to Elevate Your Routine

Changing out your closet with the change of the seasons?  Don’t forget to change up your skincare routine as we head into drier and cooler weather.  Here are our secrets for refreshing and resetting your skincare routine to keep your skin hydrated, plump and radiant year-round!

1. Upgrade to a richer moisturizer

Colder weather leaves our skin craving more moisture and hydration.  A thicker, more occlusive moisturizer protects your skin from water loss and the frosty nip of chilly days.  Nourish Replenishing Moisturizer from Green Envee is perfect for day and night, and mature skin loves Collagen and Elastin Face Cream from Sanitas.

2. Lock in hydration with layers

Colorado requires us to wear layers when the temperature can change more than 30 degrees in one day, and our skin requires those layers, too. During the day start with a hydrating or brightening toner, followed by hyaluronic acid serum, vitamin C serum, moisturizer and SPF 30.  We will help fine tune this basic routine for your unique skincare needs - book a complimentary consultation to learn more.

3. Exfoliate weekly

Use a gentle enzyme-based product once or twice a week, depending upon your skin’s needs.  We love the Illuminate Enzyme Cleansing Powder from Green Envee to remove dull, dry skin and reveal a fresh, healthy glow.

4. Uplevel moisturization and hydration with a weekly treatment mask

The extreme dryness of our climate takes a toll on our skin, causing water loss which leads to the signs of premature aging - fine lines, wrinkles, redness and thinning skin.  Plump, firm and protect your skin with a weekly treatment mask which includes ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, CoQ10, aloe vera, squalane, evening primrose oil, collagen-stimulating peptides and green tea.  We are well-stocked with treatment masks for the perfect at-home spa night!

5. Soothe redness and irritation

Winter sun, cold winds and dryness can increase inflammation in the skin leading to redness, congested breakouts and sensitivity.  Switching to an oil cleanser helps keep skin clear without stripping away natural oils and reduces inflammation in most skin types. Green Envee’s Purify Botanical Cleansing Oil is our clients’ absolute must-have!

6. Add a skin-loving oil serum to your nighttime ritual

Sometimes moisturizer just isn’t enough and adding 3-5 drops of a luscious skin oil makes all of the difference for drier skin.  Our client favorite is Flora Elixir Botanical Oil Serum from Green Envee.

7. Get a jump on treating pigmentation

Mandelic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid and vitamin C are powerful ingredients to help brighten darker pigmentation from sun damage, hormone changes and the aging process.  Add targeted treatment serums to your skincare routine or peel pads with a combination of skin-brightening ingredients to brighten, exfoliate and firm your skin.

8. Don’t forget your eyes

The delicate skin around our eyes needs products that are specifically formulated to penetrate and protect this thinner skin.  Choose an eye cream or eye gel for smoother, firmer and brighter skin around your eyes.

9. Hydrate from the inside

Our skin needs hydration in the cooler months, that’s drinking at least 8 glasses of water every day.  Feeling like you drink plenty of water but you’re still thirsty?  Try adding electrolytes to your hydration routine - coconut water up-levels your hydration and makes a tasty addition to a pumpkin smoothie!

10. Sunscreen is still a daily must

Don’t skip this important step just because the days are shorter and the sun isn’t so directly overhead.  We still get an abundance of sun exposure in Colorado with our active lifestyles (don’t forget about sun contact in our cars, driving across town) and all of those hours of fun-in-the-sun add up.

Follow these steps and your skin will thank you.  Cozy up, breathe deep, spend time in nature with family and friends, and enjoy all of the beautiful seasonal offerings we love here in Colorado.  Happy Fall from b Theory!
